Alpe d'Huez

Description

The high-altitude peat bogs of Alpe d'Huez: The fragile legacy of the great glaciations. In partnership with the Bureau des Guides-Accompagnateurs en Montagne Diplômé d'Etat.
A guide will help you discover all the treasures of this unspoilt landscape on an accessible and educational hike, explaining the major interest of these relic sites, true archives of the mountain's past, in constant evolution, and which we owe it to ourselves to protect. Wetlands represent a unique form of biodiversity, and can be found in many parts of the Grandes Rousses massif, particularly on the plateau of the lower lakes. A veritable island of life, populated by immortal moss, surprising plants and dependent animals, these fragile environments represent an ecosystem with unsuspected powers, such as the storage of carbon dioxide and the long process of peatification.
