Lecture by Bénédicte FREYSSELINARD – Arcabas, Painter of Light.
An interpretation of the stained-glass windows of Notre-Dame des Neiges that reveals the dialogue between the Gospel of Mark, Arcabas’s work, and the spiritual journey.
Through the stained-glass windows of the Notre-Dame des Neiges Church, Arcabas offers much more than an illustration of the Gospel according to Saint Mark: he provides a personal and deeply embodied interpretation of it.
During this lecture, Bénédicte Freysselinard invites us to discover how the artist reflected on the Gospel text and translated it into the language of form, color, and light. By highlighting the iconographic details of the stained-glass windows, she sheds light on Arcabas’s iconographic and symbolic choices, inviting the audience to gain a deeper understanding of his work and his spiritual journey.
