The Sarenne Ride

This short, circular ride is perfect for families and beginners. A gradual climb up the track, followed by a faster ride down on the "Chemin de Pêcheurs" next to the cool Sarenne River. Both fun and bucolic!

Route in the "MTB in Oisans" guide (Oisans Tourisme) Departure / Arrival (loop): Huez 1450 m Time: 1 hour Distance: 6 km Highest point: 1605 m Lowest point: 1440 m Total ascent: 190 m Total descent: -190 m Technique: 1,5/4 Endurance: 1/4 Map: Top 25 Bourg d'Oisans et l'Alpe d'Huez 3335 ET ROUTE From Huez, ride up the 4WD track towards the Col de Sarenne, alongside the Sarenne Gorge, to the restaurant at La Combe Haute. Once there, turn around and take the fork immediately to the left, signposted Village d’Huez par le chemin des pêcheurs. This «Fishermen’s path» winds its way between the 4WD track and the Sarenne river. The less experienced may find some sections a little difficult, but the low gradient slope makes it easy to stop and put your feet down if necessary. In any case, this fun path provides MTB thrills, whether you’re a beginner or an experienced mountain biker. In three places, the path goes back up the 4WD track. In each case, keep an eye open down to the left to ensure you get back on the Chemin des pêcheurs.
